Dear Client,

The nerve centre of all communication and IT, the network, has become the platform for increased business competitiveness and innovation. The pressure to keep it secure and optimally performing is higher than ever, as the ability for organisations to capitalise on the opportunities presented by our increasingly connected world depends on it.

The sixth annual Dimension Data Network Barometer Report provides insight into the trends, behaviours, and drivers in network management. The Report is an aggregation and analysis of the data and knowledge collected from 288 Technology Lifecycle Management Assessments performed on our clients' infrastructures in 2013. In addition, and for the first time, it also contains data relating to 91,000 service incidents logged at our Global Service Centres for client networks that we support.

Correlating the relative age of networking infrastructure with the operational impact of networking devices at various lifecycle stages makes the Network Barometer 2014 a compelling and detailed gauge of global networks’ readiness to accelerate business.

Key highlights from this year's Report:

51% of all network devices are ageing or obsolete. 84% of incidents fall outside of organisations' maintenance supplier's remit. Wireless business is up by 30%, supporting the move to enterprise mobility.
